FAQ
Hard Wake FAQ
Clear answers about missions, alarm reliability, Premium, Companion, safety, and support.
Does Hard Wake replace my phone alarm?
Yes. You set your wake-up alarms inside Hard Wake instead of your default clock app. Hard Wake adds a movement mission on top of a normal alarm so it does not fully stop until you prove you are awake.
How do I dismiss a Hard Wake alarm?
Tap Start Mission and complete the selected movement. Shake and Soldier Walk require about 20 seconds of detected movement; Jump requires about 12 seconds after the safety opt-in. Dismissal stays locked until Hard Wake detects completion. Motion samples are processed locally on your phone.
Can I snooze or dismiss the alarm early?
No. Hard Wake does not offer a traditional snooze during the protected alarm flow, and opening or leaving the mission does not dismiss the alarm. The selected movement mission must be completed. Never attempt movement that feels unsafe; use a backup alarm plan when needed.
What are Shake, Soldier Walk, and Jump missions?
Shake asks you to shake your phone, Soldier Walk asks you to march in place with high knees, and Jump asks you to jump while holding the phone securely. You can choose a mission for each alarm. Jump is optional, off by default, and requires a one-time safety opt-in.
What is Awake Check?
Awake Check is an optional follow-up confirmation after the movement mission. It helps verify that you stayed awake after dismissing the alarm. If you miss the confirmation, Hard Wake can re-enter the alarm flow according to your settings.
What are wake routine tasks and task check-ins?
Wake routine tasks are scheduled morning actions attached to an alarm, such as drinking water, showering, or packing a bag. A task check-in asks whether the task is complete. Choosing Not yet schedules another check and keeps the source alarm protected from edits, disabling, or deletion until the task is completed.
Will alarms work in silent mode, Do Not Disturb, Battery Saver, after a restart, or if the app is force-stopped?
These phone and operating-system settings can affect alarm delivery. Review Hard Wake's Reliability Check for notification, exact alarm, full-screen alert, battery, Do Not Disturb, volume, vibration, and restart guidance. A force-stop or aggressive manufacturer battery restriction can prevent an alarm, so keep a backup plan for critical events.
What should I do if movement is not detected?
Hold the phone securely and follow the selected mission's on-screen movement guidance. Do not make faster, harder, or unsafe movements to force progress. Test each mission before relying on it, confirm that your device's motion sensors work, and contact support with your phone model and app version if detection repeatedly fails.
Can I use Hard Wake with an injury or mobility limitation?
Use only a mission that is safe and comfortable for your body and surroundings. Shake requires less whole-body movement but still requires securely moving the phone. If none of the available missions is safe or accessible for you, do not rely on Hard Wake's movement alarm and use another suitable wake-up method.
Does Hard Wake require an internet connection?
Scheduled alarms and movement detection are designed to run locally after setup. Internet access is required for sign-in, purchase validation, cloud backup and restore, Companion and Rescue features, and sending support requests. Network-dependent features may be delayed or unavailable while offline.
Which devices are supported?
Hard Wake is currently available for Android through Google Play. The iPhone version is coming soon. Alarm behavior can vary by Android version and phone manufacturer, so run Reliability Check and test an alarm on your device before depending on it.
How do I restore a purchase or request a refund?
Sign in to the same Apple App Store or Google Play account used for the purchase, then choose Restore purchases inside Hard Wake. Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google under their store policies; Hard Wake cannot issue store refunds directly.
How do I delete my account and data?
Open Hard Wake, go to Settings, then Account, and choose Delete Account. This removes the Firebase account, supported account-linked cloud data, and local Hard Wake data on that device. If you cannot access the app, contact support from your account email. Account deletion does not cancel an Apple or Google subscription.
Why does Hard Wake need permissions?
Alarms rely on phone settings like exact alarm timing, notifications, full-screen alerts, sound, vibration, and battery behavior. Hard Wake guides you through settings that help alarms appear clearly and on time.
Is Jump Mode safe?
Jump Mode is off by default and only becomes available after a one-time opt-in. Use it only when jumping feels safe, the floor is clear, and you can hold your phone securely. Prefer Shake or Soldier Walk when unsure.
Is there a free version?
Hard Wake is currently subscription-first. Eligible store accounts may be able to try Premium with a 14-day free trial before the subscription renews. Apple or Google shows the current price and trial eligibility before purchase.
What does Premium include?
Premium includes unlimited alarms, movement missions, Awake Check, Reliability Check, wake routine tasks, task check-ins, wake history, streaks, cloud backup, restore support, and Companion shared follow-up features when enabled for the release.
What does a companion see?
When Companion is enabled, an accepted companion can receive selected missed confirmations or routine follow-up alerts based on your settings. You choose whether titles are visible. Companion is optional, invite-based, and not continuous observation.
What is Rescue Mode?
Rescue Mode is an optional setting for pre-approved actions after a missed confirmation and inside your rescue window. It can request confirmation, ring again, send a louder message, or trigger a harder mission when allowed. It is not an urgent-response service.
Can I back up my alarms?
When signed in, Hard Wake can save a cloud backup of supported alarm settings, labels, repeat days, mission choices, routine tasks, app settings, wake history, and protected wake-flow state.
Does Hard Wake work when my phone is locked?
Hard Wake is designed to show a full-screen alarm over the lock screen where your phone allows it. The Reliability Check helps you review settings that make this smoother on your device.
Can support cancel my subscription?
No. Subscriptions must be canceled through the Apple App Store or Google Play account where the purchase was made. Deleting a Hard Wake account does not cancel store billing.
Is Hard Wake for emergency, medical, or safety-critical use?
No. Hard Wake can support waking routines and selected shared follow-up, but it should not be used as an emergency, medical, caregiving, safety-critical, or urgent-response service. Keep backup plans for important events.
